Health and Physical Education at Logan Reserve State School

At Logan Reserve State School, Physical Education (PE) plays a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being of all our students.  Each week, every student benefits from two thirty-minute PE lessons that focuses on different sports/activities each term.

Sports Days

Our school hosts two sports carnivals each year for Cross Country and Athletics: one for the Junior (Prep-Year 3) and one for the Senior (Year 3-Year 6) students.  Students compete in one of three house teams, each represented by a distinctive colour:

  • Kondoola (Blue)
  • Gungurru (Red)
  • Bajiri (Yellow)

For students aged 10 and above, there's an opportunity to advance to the Logan District and Metropolitan East carnivals. Students who qualify will receive an invitation to represent Logan Reserve State School at these significant events.

Gala Day Sports

Gala Day Sports offer our Year 5 and 6 students a chance to compete in a range of sports each term. The sports on offer may vary, but typically include:

  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Rugby League
  • Netball
  • Volleyball
  • Oz Tag

Participation in these activities requires a fee to cover costs such as transportation, venue hire, and other expenses, typically ranging from $15 to $25 per student.

Swimming and Surf Lifesaving School

Our school's swimming program is robustly supported by both teachers and teacher aides, ensuring comprehensive involvement in our students' aquatic education.

For Prep and Year 1 students, we offer seven 45-minute lessons at a local pool, conducted by fully qualified swimming instructors. These sessions focus on building water confidence and developing essential swimming skills.

Students in Years 2 to Year 4 benefit from four 45-minute lessons at the same local pool, where they work with certified swimming instructors to enhance their swimming techniques and water safety knowledge.

Year 5 and 6 students experience a specialized two-day Surf Lifesaving school program at Tallebudgera Beach. Under the guidance of fully qualified lifesavers, these sessions emphasize lifesaving skills and advanced water safety techniques.

We are committed to providing diverse and enriching physical activities that help our students develop their skills, stay active, and have fun!
